Hey Kent I apologize for being so rational before. Congratulations on you're weight loss and I'm glad for you. I guess I was just naïve to think that the way I lost weight was the only correct way. Once again I apologize. :)

I accept. I too was skeptic 5 years ago and imagined the worse as well. I was fortunate enough to have a brother who lost 75 pounds ahead of me and show me what was possible. It's a natural reaction when the media is so low fat that any break from their current mindset.

Hi bowulf, thanks for the fantastic videos. Im 3 weeks in to Atkins. Well the way i look at it its a lifestyle change! You are an inspiration. Im from Ireland so i was just wondering the protein powder that you use, is that the stuff body builders use?

  7. bowulf Says:

Same stuff.. Except I make sure I buy the product the lowest in carbs — not the stuff heavily sweetened with sugar.

I watched this vid and found there is no reference to chocolate in the ingredients. Is the protein powder chocolate?

  9. bowulf Says:

Yes, the chocolate was in the whey powder. The recipe is in the video description. From the video description on the right hand side:
"1 cup chocolate whey protein powder"

  13. ilove2sing23 Says:

  14. bowulf Says:

Wal-mart and Target sell it in the coffee aisle.

    Really? thanks!

I would prefer if you could not see what it looks like. Couldn't you at least coat it with dark chocolate or carob?

  17. bowulf Says:

Yes, but why would I want to. This is delicious the way it is.

  18. 1962sydnee Says:

what do you do with the mixture when done? your video does not show it.

  19. bowulf Says:

    * Mix protein powder until crumbly
    * Add SF syrup, and the mix should turn glossy and much easier to form into 2 mini loaf pans

why are you scared of carbs?

  21. bowulf Says:

I am not scared of carbs. I just see the overabundance of them as one of reasons Americans have gotten more obese. I also appreciate NOT having to deal with blood glucose spikes and energy lulls any more.

  22. thirtyaughsix Says:

I eat about 80-100 grams of carbs at every meal and i'm 6'2" 210 pounds of lean muscle. I agree that perhaps an overabundance of WHITE carbs in the American diet is a contributing factor to obesity, although there's nothing wrong with carbs as a whole. I limit my carbs to low GI carbs which i'm sure you're aware of. WW bread, pasta, rice, yams, most fruits, beans, etc. Slow release which prevents the insulin spike. As for high GI, I need them as well. As soon as i wake up and post workout.

  23. bowulf Says:

Dr. Atkins was one of the first proponents of a low GI and recognizing the benefits. He also however recognized that there is a difference in how the body reacts to different fuel sources.

The difference I see then is that I fuel my workouts and marathon training on fat as fuel. Why are you scared of fat? (to paraphrase your orig Q) The reason I limit carbs is I am more sensitive to carbs and their effect than I am for fat.

Working out on fat also improves my endurance - no bonk at mile 20.

  24. thirtyaughsix Says:

I'm far from afraid of fat lol.. i realize it's effects on test and energy.
