Lose Weight and Lower Cholesterol by Eating Snacks!
November 1, 2009

Are you looking to shed those extra pounds? Do you suffer from hypertension and high cholesterol? You’ve probably been told a thousand times to eat less and lose weight, so why aren’t you seeing any results?
Maybe you try to stick to a healthy diet, prepare healthy, low fat meals, but find yourself slipping in between. If you are one of the many who just can’t get control of your diet, try some of these tips and making eating work for your diet goals!
You may be taking cholesterol medication (like Tricor or Lipitor), but you will never get control of your cholesterol from medication alone.
Make losing weight and lowering your cholesterol without being hungry your goal. Listen to your body. It takes 20 minutes for your stomach to send the signal to your brain that you are satisfied after a small meal or snack. So, control those portions. If you still feel hungry after eating a moderate portion. Stop eating and wait. Be honest with yourself. Are you really still hungry after 20 minutes? If you are, don’t be shy, take another small portion. But remember: the scale doesn’t lie; neither should you.
While many diets might advise eating only three meals a day, you can keep your metabolism up and running and even avoid overindulging by eating 5 small meals a day and snacking in between! The key is to avoid empty calories. Eat nutrient rich snacks of up to 200 calories like fruits and vegetables, whole grain crackers, low fat or fat free yogurts, nuts, fruit smoothies, etc.

Always plan your snacks in advance. Don’t forget to incorporate them into your day. By doing this you can avoid getting overly hungry and grabbing something unhealthy for that extra energy boost.
If you still find yourself struggling with portion sizes and turning snacks into large meals, you may want to try using the diet pill Phentermine, a diet aid that helps suppress appetite, or buy Acai Effect online, an all natural diet aid. These can help you control your portion sizes as you adjust to your new diet approach and eat more snacks.
