The Benefits of Dieting Together

Dieting along can be tough, especially when you're living with other people who are not dieting. Research shows that people who diet with a partner lose up to 30% more weight than people who diet alone. And it makes sense, if you think about it: You have someone to motivate you and someone to scold you when you fall off the wagon!

Follow these easy diet tips to help you (and your partner) lose weight fast…and to have a lot of fun along the way!

1. Motivate each other – As stated above, there's no better motivation than dieting with someone who's got the same goals as you. Encourage each other to stick to the plan.

2. Exercise together – Jogging alone can get boring, but joint fitness routines,  with a friend or a spouse, can not only be fun, but will afford the two of you some quality time together. Schedule a regular exercise plan and don't let the other person back out!

3. Stock the fridge together – If your dieting duo is you and a roommate or you and a spouse or a live in partner, then you're in luck! You'll have a shopping buddy, someone who will help make sure that what goes into the cart and then into your kitchens is healthy and diet-friendly.

4. Reward each other – This works particularly well with a romantically involved dieting couple. I once knew a dieting duo that when the one person hit their weight loss goal, the other would reward the success. And yet another couple where if one person hit the goal, that person would get the OTHER person (who had not yet hit the goal) a gift. Each person was working towards a prize for the other person. Very sweet.
